I have tourette's. Both motor and phonic tics. Head shaking, shoulder and stomach contactions, eye blinking rolling and straining etc. They do wax and wayne, some a transient, but seem to end up eventually back to the same tics as before like a cycle or something. I have coprolalia, but I don't swear as much as just random words usually having two syllables. Like the word Butter for example. Some times it's bad and sometimes it's almost non existant.

Hmm. I find myself shuddering and cringing whenever I hear the words "pleasant", "hope", or "moving forward". I've always felt that it gives me a deeper appreciation for the Knights of Nih sketch from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Also, every time I see a Republican I have to fight the urge to hit them repeatedly in the face whilst crying "Where are the WMDs, you bastards, where are the WMDs?!?".

But these days, that is normal.

Do you think stress brings it on more? Are you able to have a job etc?,I am just curious. It must be really difficult to deal with, but maybe,if you turned it into comedy, then people would deal with it & be more accepting. I know I appreciate people who can laugh at themselves & are understanding of others.I observe in just regular behavior of people being in a room all day together at work, that everyone has weird things aboutthem & people just accept it,especially if you are a nice person.Peace!

hi,
i also have tourettes and i have been looking in myself for the reason. explanation i ve found for the tics is the 'suppression of my expression', has to do with a bigger than average desire for creating relationships, which is the extensive tension i experience around other beings, the fear of doing or saying something 'stupid' or being laughed at. i will write a book of my findings, but i d like to know from others, like you, whether you also experience this what i described?

Hi, I have chronic anxiety, & I get angry & annoyed with things & I will react to it, but not tics really, but I was wondering, if you have tried taking xanax or ativan, when I do remember to take it, I am better, but I know this is a genetic thing, just like you, it's not your fault, dont feel inadequate to others bcause most likely, they also feel inadequete in some way too. Some people try to hide it by over compensating, like lifting weights, or acting like a jerk, especially on you tube!
